'Raise the Roof' Concert
Picture, Enhanced Choir
An appreciative audience cast away any suggestion of "Winter Blues" and enjoyed a delightful evening of contrasting and impressive performances by musicians of all ages from our own community. Grateful thanks were expressed to everyone who contributed to a memorable evening and a generous £500 was raised towards the launch of fund raising to finance the emergency repairs to the Chancel Roof. (Return to Top)

Performances included several voice solos, hand bells, piano, guitar, trombones and ukuleles as well as the augments church choir - the 'Dymock Singers'. (Return to Top)
New Toilet - Objection and Judgement
Artist's Impression of New Toilet
The last update (Nov 2012) reported that we had received two 'Formal' objections in writing to our plans for a proposed new toilet, which meant that the church planning 'Faculty' granting permission to proceed had been suspended, pending the outcome of a church 'Consistory Court' hearing to allow the objectors to put their case. (Return to Top)

Although the two formal objections were received after the 28 day notice period allowed, the church authority decided to allow the objectors to say why they should be heard late, and asked them and our Rector to a provisional court hearing in November 2012. The judgement from that hearing was against the objection and in favour of the toilet proceeding. The whole judgement was displayed on the church noticeboards and can be viewed by clicking here. The judgement lists the history of the proposal and refers to several additional 'informal' objections that were not taken forward. It makes the point that communications could have been better, but that the plans were properly advertised as required and, after considering the reasons from the two 'formal' objections, rejects their submission and re-grants the Faculty on the original conditions laid out last Summer. Men's Breakfast
Picture, Men at Breakfast
The first Men's Breakfast of 2013 took place on Saturday 5th January, when 14 men met for a 'Full English Breakfast' in the Beauchamp Arms Pub. After the meal, we were joined by Sallyanne Batchelor, the 'Village Agent' for Dymock, Kempley, Preston, Bromsberrow, Oxenhall and Cliffords Mesne, who described her role and responsibility. (Return to Top)

Village Agents are volunteers who never-the-less are knowledgeable about central and local government services. She regularly attends Western Way flats where she can be approached by anyone, and she also goes to individual's homes to give advice. She can help you determine what benefits you're entitled to and help you fill in the application form, and well as referring you to many other services such as the Citizen's Advice bureau. (Return to Top)

She often attends the meetings of Parish Councils to advise them but hadn't been invited to Dymock's Parish council. The two councillors present at the breakfast said they'd suggest to the council that she be invited, so maybe our breakfast will help advertise her services to a wider take-up. (Return to Top)
